Immunogenomic Data Management Methods
Steve Mack, Jill Hollenbach
The goal of the 16 IHIW Immunogenomics Data-Analysis Working Group (IDAWG) project is to develop standards, analytical methods, and tools intended to facilitate the sharing and consistent analysis of highly polymorphic data by the immunogenomics and genomics communities.
It is currently difficult to share data resources, and carry out consistent analyses of these data resources, due to varying levels of genotyping resolution between data sets, variation in applied allele nomenclature, and variation in methods of data recording and processing. Additional statistical and computational challenges exist for consistent analytical interpretation due to the high levels of polymorphism associated with immunogenomic data.
The goal of the IDAWG project is to address these challenges by developing:
- HLA and KIR Data-Management Tools,
- Community Ambiguity Reduction Standards,
- Community Data-Recording and Data-Sharing Standards,
- Novel Data-Analysis Methods/Applications, and
- Reporting Guidelines for Immungenomic Studies.
We aim to make these tools and standards available to the various projects generating and collecting data for the 16th workshop in order to faciliate the sharing of their data resources.
Details about the IDAWG project can be found online at www.igdawg.org.
